Flying Into Mountain Air airport
Fly-in FAQs
Q: What is the airport identifier?
A: 2NC0 (the last character is the number zero, not the letter O)
Q: Is Mountain Air airport open to the general public?
A: No, it’s a private airport, prior permission is required
Q: How can I get permission to land at Mountain Air?
A: Property owners can sponsor their guests. If you are a guest at our condo and you meet the requirements, I can sponsor you.
Q: What is the process for getting approval to fly in?
A: You’ll have to review the procedures and fill out a form on the Mountain Air website. After that, a Safety Officer from the Mountain Air Pilots Association will call you to conduct a briefing. Once that’s done, Mountain Air management will send you your approval and your PPR number.
Q: Are there any fees associated with landing at Mountain Air?
A: No, there are no landing, tie-down or other airport fees.
Q: How can I get transportation from the runway to the condo and area attractions?
A: There are no rental car companies in town, but there are a few options:
- We have a car that we keep by the runway, which you can rent via Turo. We offer a 50% discount on the car rental for our condo guests.
- You may be able to find other cars available on Turo.
- There is an auto body shop in town that sometimes has cars available to rent.
Q: Can guests access the Club bar/restaurant?
A: The Mountain Air community and Mountain Air Country Club are two different entities. Many Mountain Air residents, such as my family, are property owners but not club members. Therefore, our guests can’t access Club amenities. Fortunately, the town of Burnsville offers a varied selection of eclectic eateries, pubs, a microbrewery and other diversions. I’ve put together a partial collection of them at this link.
Q: Can guests access the Mountain Air golf course?
A: Unfortunately, the golf course is reserved for Mountain Air Country Club members. However, you will have access to on-site hiking with over 6 miles of hiking trails and 6 community parks right there in the neighborhood. Park amenities include, fire pits, pavilions with picnic tables, barbecue grills, gazebo, playground with treehouse and several viewing areas with gorgeous mountain views. If you want to golf, you can check out nearby courses such as Mount Mitchell Golf Course.
If access to club amenities is a must for you, you can check out MountainAirHospitality.com. You may also find individual vacation rentals that offer club access. However, typically you’ll find those accommodations are substantially more expensive.
Q: I have more questions, who can I contact?
A: You can click here to contact Mike. I’m a pilot and will be happy to answer any questions you might have!
